Outstanding Mexican in Ulsan From Tacos and T (우리동네 타코)

As I have written about before, I really enjoy Mexican food. In fact, I have even driven to another city just to get a bite of that delicious cuisine.

That’s why I was so happy when I heard that there was a new Mexican based restaurant in Ulsan and that the prices were not too bad, and the quality was reputed to be very good.

I had only read a few blog posts about it and all of them had used an app to order the food. As I live outside the delivery area for the restaurant, that meant that I would either have to go to a friend’s house or find out where the location was and go visit it myself.

I decided on a nice Saturday morning to take a drive into town and, after doing a bit of research, I think that I had found the location of this restaurant.

Based on a Naver map search, there was no entry, but I found the address on one of the apps that the business was registered to, and after doing a street-view of the area, I found that there was indeed a store named Tacos and T that was supposed to be located at that address.

I found a place to park, and I followed the meandering streets and sure enough, I saw the store front of Tacos and T, also called 우리동네 타코 in Korean. The names don’t exactly match up, but I figured as long as the food was good, I wasn’t going to be picky about the name of the restaurant.

The restaurant had just opened, as it was 11 a.m., and they were more than happy to take my order.

I decided to get a Chicken taco Set, and a Big Burrito of the Pulled Pork variety. I also took a picture of the menu so that I could remember what the other main items are. They offer four kinds of meat for their tacos or the Big Burrito: chicken, pulled pork, beef, and shrimp. There is also a wrap, quesadilla, and a giant fajita set, and also some beef nachos! A pretty decent selection I think!

The friendly staff said it would take about 20 minutes to prepare my order, so I walked around the neighborhood to get a bit of exercise before my lunch was ready.

When I returned, the staff was just packing up my order, and there were four decent sized containers plus a bottle of Coke for me to carry back to the car.

As my Mom lives close by, I decided to go to her place and share this feast with her.

After arriving, I unpacked all the food and marveled at the amount.

The Big Burrito was so large, that it took TWO containers to house! The two-piece chicken tacos took up another container, and the last container contained some Cajun French fries, nachos, and a smile potato, which were part of the Chicken Taco set!

There was also some ketchup and nacho cheese sauce for dipping the various sides in.

After admiring the spread, it was time to dig in and see if the reviews I had read were worth it.

Well, I was very impressed by the food. The sides were nice, as the nachos were nice and crispy, and I have always loved Cajun fries. It was nice to be able to choose between cheese sauce and ketchup for dipping, and the Cajun fries were great with both.

Next, I tried the Chicken Tacos. They were generously filled with grilled chicken that had a nice blend of spices on it.

It was topped with shredded cheese, tomatoes, sour cream, and real, fresh, cilantro! They came in a nice soft taco shell, and they were excellent! The ingredients were all fresh and I was very happy to have the fresh cilantro on top.

Finally, it was time for the Big Burrito. This was VERY large, which I suppose is fitting because the price was 14,000 won. For me though, it was worth every won that I paid for it. Choosing the pulled pork option, I was so impressed because the pulled pork was SO tender, it literally melted in my mouth.

The Big Burrito comes with a wide range of toppings, including sour cream, salsa sauce, lettuce, tomatoes cheese, guacamole, and even a little corn. However the star was definitely the pork, and there was an ample amount of it so that I was to have some in every bite. Sometimes Mexican restaurants here will fill up with rice, but not at Tacos and T, where they have a great balance of toppings.

The Big Burrito was very flavorful, and it seemed like every bite was just a little bit different, so it was really nice to eat.

I have to say I really, really, enjoyed my lunch from Tacos and T. In fact, I will make sure to go back to support the small business, as they have some really great food, and some great staff as well. It is close to Ulsan Grand Park, so it would be great for a picnic as well, seeing as how summer is coming up.

I have included a map below, and you can find the phone number on the placard in one of the pictures above.

*NOTE* Clicking on the map will take you to the Naver maps of a different store, but both Tacos and T and the other store are in the same building.
