Hidden Gems – Machoa Coffee In Ulsan, South Korea

Finding independent coffee shops is always something that I am very keen on. While I do visit chain stores frequently, being able to support a smaller merchant does make me feel good. It’s even better when they the products that they sell are wonderful!

That’s why I was really happy last week when I was walking next to the ocean and stumbled upon a little coffee shop that I had never noticed before.

Machoa Coffee is located right next to the ocean here in Ulsan and is in small container. Despite this tiny size, they are serving up some truly tasty coffee.

Before I went to Machoa Coffee, I was walking along the beach and saw some nice scenery, including this little tree perched high up on the rocks.

After some more wonderful views, I turned back and went to get my coffee.

The menu had some really nice choices, but in the end I settled on a Caramel Latte.

Machoa Coffee has some interesting decorations inside the container where the owner works. There are a number of coffee grinders as well as other coffee paraphernalia.

When my Caramel Latte was ready I went to one of the picnic style benches to sit down. Upon opening the lid, I saw that the barista had done caramel art! The leaf looked very impressive, especially considering that it had a plastic lid on it for a while.

The Caramel Latte was very delicious. It was not too sweet, but still had a rich caramel flavor. The coffee was smooth and lacked bitterness, with very little aftertaste.

Being able to have a coffee right next to the ocean at a reasonable price is a trifecta, and Machoa Coffee was right on the money with a great cup of coffee!

NOTE: Machoa Coffee is usually open from 1 pm to 11 pm.
